Approach and access

Approach

From Zurich, Bern, Geneva or Italy (via Simplon), Visp is very easy to reach by public transport as well as by car. From here, via St. Niklaus, there are public transport connections to Gasenried several times a day.

At the entrance to the village of Gasenried, there are 4 reserved parking spaces for guests of the Bordierhütte (on the PP on the right-hand side of the road).

Access

From Gasenried or Grächen, the marked trail leads through a larch forest and a beautiful glacier foreland landscape to the “Alpja” (Schafalp). Thousands of alpine roses bloom here in early summer!
From the “Alpja”, follow the marked hiking trail up over the large moraine.
From here, the new path leads off to the left to the Riedbach stream and then up the left side of the valley – again through a sea of alpine roses and accompanied by ibex and chamois – to the hut…
Welcome!
The new path no longer leads over the glacier and therefore no crampons are required to visit the hut.
